Product Care
To ensure your product lasts as long as possible and remains in first class condition, read the below instructions on taking care of your tool:
Keeping Your Product Corrosion Free
Rust is caused by exposed metal coming into contact with oxygen and moisture. To keep tools corrosion-free, keep them clean and dry by wiping them off with a dry clean cloth before you put them away. To combat rust and corrosion that is caused by humidity, occasionally coat all metal surfaces with light oil. If you live in a humid climate, try to keep your tool in a dry place.
Smooth Easy Tool Handling
If blades and tools do not move easily at first on your multi-tool, open and close them in warm water a few times, dry, then oil using a standard lubricating oil available at your local hardware shop.
Cleaning Your Product
Depending on what has affected your product, here are some tips in cleaning it:
Salt Water: Rinse your product under warm water, pat dry and lubricate with a water-displacing oil.
Rust or Corrosion: Refer to the Corrosion Free section above.
Debris or Residue: Clean as best you can between the blades with warm water and a mild detergent.
Tar: Clean your product with terpentine
After Cleaning: See Smooth Easy Tool Handling section above.
Keep Your Blades Sharp
The sharpening method may vary depending on the knife but most conventional straight knife methods should be fine: including wetstones, cutting stones and popular sharpening kits. If sharpening the serrated blades, be sure to use a specifically designed system for serrated knives. Always sharpen these on the edged side of the blade.
